Research Update

Between our Social Studies and English classes, I have been working on a joint research paper. The topic I chose was Karl Marx relationship with Russian communism. I have found this topic to be very interesting thus far. I think a lot of people get confused about what communism actually is. Communism is a socioeconomic system that is supposed to benefit the proletariat or working class people. This system seems good in theory, but it has its problems. It all starts off with the criticism of Capitalism, the current dominant economic system. They say that the Bourgeois, middle class, are only making the proletariat suffer through the economic system through taking advantage of them.       Communism really boils down to one key economic prospect: the abolition of private property. The communist argument goes that since the Bourgeois own the means of producing goods, The Bourgeois can and are taking advantage of the proletariat. Through this process, the proletariat are becoming more

Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

In class, we have been reading The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. The novel takes place on an Indian Reservation and is about a boy who has had many developmental problems and struggles in his life. Arnold, the main character, goes on his journey to never give in to society's torment of him and his people. I have enjoyed this book so far. It has been much more of a relaxed read since I don't have to annotate it. It really takes stress away from the last books we have read. Also, I think the book has been a good distraction from the research paper. It reminds me of how to be a kid.      I think the novel can be very inspirational. Arnold can be a understandable character. He isn't this perfect being that does everything right and all. He is just a normal human being who has emotions and problems like the rest of us. I feel he is the way a lot of kids see themselves these days: failures, imperfect, and isolated. I also like how the author

Final Fantasy XV: A Beautiful Piece of Art

Over Christmas break, I played many video games. One video game in particular struck me in a new way. This game was Final Fantasy XV . Final Fantasy XV  take place in the fantasy world of Eos, which is split between two countries, Niflheim and Lucis. The game follows Noctis, the prince of Lucis, and his friends as they go on a journey to reclaim their homeland. This has been one of the best games I have played ever. The story is great and it develops the characters really well. Not only that, there is so much to do in Eos. It ranges from have lunch at a cafe to fighting off daemons at night. The game is incredibly diverse and there is so much for the player to do.      One of the things that make this game especially great is its character development. Noctis, the main character, is only in his twenties. The game shows this very clearly as Noctis doesn't have the best judgement in the world. In fact, no character in this game is portrayed to be completely perfect. These flaws

Research Update

Over the past few weeks, I have been doing research for my research paper. The topic I chose was Karl Marx's effect on communism in Russia. I have honestly enjoyed researching this topic. It has given me a new perspective on what actually goes on with communism. It also enlightened me to the fact of how communism is a good idea in theory, but doesn't work in practice. My research has gone swimmingly.; I have found a ton of good sources to go on.  I have also learned that the best place to find secondary sources is, by far, JSTOR. These school databases and even our librarian have helped me throughout this process.      As with all successes, there have been some hardships along this road. As with all things in life, experience helps. At first, I was only using the Gale database which made it really hard to find exceptional secondary sources. I asked my friends and everybody pointed me to JSTOR. This is why I now know why JSTOR is the best. I also had some trouble finding

New Semester

With winter in full blast right now, I think its a good time to reflect over what has happened since August. The fall semester is now officially over. I had a lot of ups and downs over this semester, but I've learned some important things about myself over the past six months. One of those things is that I am not stressed very easily. I feel like people really boost up high school and make it sound more intimidating than it actually is. Another thing I've learned is that sleep is really helpful. I have been going to bed earlier and noticing significant improvements in my works habits. Finally, I have learned that procrastinating is incredibly bad. This is all valuable information I have learned about myself.      I hope to use all this information in order to help me be a better student in this semester. One of my new goals is to not procrastinate as much. I seen that this helps the quality of the work I make (as stated above). I another goal I have is to balance my extra
